Inguinal Hernia Repair

Our Price: $ 3,900 USD

A hernia appears when an area inside the body, like an organ, pushes through a weak part in a muscle or surrounding tissue wall.

The body’s muscles are normally strong and tight enough to keep the intestines and organs in their correct place, but at times they are not, which causes a hernia to develop.

Inguinal Hernia Repair

About our surgical procedure at Angeles Hospital

A laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is an operation that pushes the bulge back into its correct place and simultaneously strengthens the abdominal wall. The operation is important because an inguinal hernia is a potentially dangerous medical condition.

Laparoscopic, or keyhole surgery, is a minimally invasive method where numerous small incisions are made, allowing the surgeon to use a variety of instruments.

da Vinci® Assisted Inguinal Hernia Repair

Our Prices Vary with each patient

For our da Vinci assisted Inguinal Hernia Repair surgery, the most common complications may occur, like in any type of surgery. The possible complications are:

  • Damage to other tissues and organs.
  • Bleeding.
  • Infection.
  • Internal scarring.
  • Pain.

The specific risks for minimally invasive surgery such as the da Vinci® Surgery, are:

  • Temporary pain.
  • Temporary nerve damage.
  • Need to convert to an open surgery:
  1. Longer operative time.
  2. Additional and larger incision.
  3. Longer time under anesthesia.

* There is no guarantee all patients will have the same results. Prostatectomy individual results will vary.

For our da Vinci® assisted Inguinal Hernia Repair surgery, our surgeons need to follow the specific steps designed for the surgical robot:

  1. Lysis of Adhesions: Can be performed with the da Vinci system or laparoscopically
  2. Creation of Peritoneal Flap.
  3. Reduction of the Hernia Sac: The viscera is released from the defect and retrieved into the abdomen utilizing a Trans-Abdominal Pre-Peritoneal (TAPP) approach.
  4. Suturing of the mesh: The mesh is inserted into the intra-abdominal cavity through the camera or instrument arm port. The mesh is sewn in place with interrupted sutures, taking care to avoid the nerves and vasculature within the inguinofemoral region from the posterior aspect.
  5. Closure of peritoneum with a running suture.

For our patients deciding to have the da Vinci® assisted Inguinal Hernia Repair, the benefits compared to a traditional laparoscopic surgery, are:

  • Enhanced vision allowing surgeons to be more precise with sutures.
  • Precise dissection around critical structures.
  • Less pain.
  • Faster recovery.
  • Lower risk of serious complications.
