Our Rhinoplasty Surgery is performed under local or IV anesthesia, in our outpatient’s facilities. The duration of the procedure depends on what type of work the patient requested. Generally, all nose job surgeries require the separation of the skin from the bone and cartilage, to give it the shape the patient requested. The amount of sculpting and changes the surgeons perform, also depends on the patient’s decision.
Once the sculpting is complete, our surgeons reattached the skin to the new framework and close the incisions made. For this procedure, we can use two different techniques:
- Closed procedure: incisions are hidden inside the nose. The closed technique tends to be used for more minor restructuring.
- Open procedure: incisions is made across the columella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. An open nose job tends to be used more in instances where significant reshaping of the nose is necessary.
In either technique, these basic incisions are used to raise the soft tissues that cover the nose, allowing access to the structure of the nose.
