General Surgery

Angeles Hospital Tijuana is a popular choice for cost-savvy Americans who need routine medical procedures. The hospital is just a short drive away from San Diego Airport, but its outpatient and inpatient surgeries would be pricey procedures stateside. Available procedures include several general surgeries that are low-risk, low-cost, and performed on a daily basis by trained hands. Last updated on July 16, 2016.

Hernia Repairs

Inguinal Hernia Repair

Inguinal hernias, also known as groin hernias, are abdominal protrusions that can block blood flow to the bowels. When this happens, surgery is highly recommended. If you’re a woman, your inguinal hernia is more likely to need repairs, but it’s common for both sexes and it’s especially important if you’re already experiencing pain or discomfort.

Unlike open surgery, laparoscopic hernia repairs are noninvasive outpatient procedures that are conducted under general anesthesia. After making one or more small “keyhole” incisions, your surgeon will push your abdominal content back into place. This process strengthens your abdominal wall and prevents serious complications.

Umbilical Hernia Repair

Most umbilical hernias occur in infancy and close without surgical intervention within a year. However, sometimes this healing process doesn’t happen, and sometimes the hernia appears in adulthood. If you have an umbilical hernia, you face life-threatening complications if you don’t get it repaired.

Fortunately, Angeles Hospital can complete the procedure in less than an hour. It requires one incision for a tiny camera, and two more for the tools that push your hernia into place and insert surgical mesh to strengthen the area afterwards.

Gall Bladder Removal

Laparoscopic gall bladder surgery is safer and faster than ever before, which is good news if you’re a patient in need. Your gallbladder collects and releases bile to help you digest food, but if you have gallstones, gallbladder cancer, colic, or any other gallbladder problem, this process could stop completely. Complications are life-threatening without proper treatment, but the problem is so common that the solution is relatively routine.

The only option to relieve your pain and restore your health is a cholecystectomy, or complete gallbladder removal surgery. We conduct this inpatient procedure with advanced technology and precise tools, to ensure a speedy recovery and prevent infection or complications down the line.

Hysterectomy

If you’re a woman, your reproductive health plays a large role in your overall health and wellbeing. There are dozens of common disorders and complications that jeopardize this, affecting your uterus, ovaries, cervix and/or fallopian tubes. Depending on the severity and location of your surgical needs, you may require a full or partial hysterectomy.

During this gynecological procedure, we make an incision in your vagina or abdomen, then remove the pelvic organs and parts that have caused your life-threatening and/or painful complications. Afterwards, you’ll recover as we monitor your incision site for a day or two.

Meet Your Doctor

At Angeles Hospital Tijuana, the majority of general surgical procedures are performed by Dr. Jorge Zavala Ruiz. As one of our primary experts in surgical oncology, Dr. Zavala is also well-versed in the intricacies of open and laparoscopic surgery. These four procedures are among the most common, and they all incorporate surgical methods and advanced technologies to stay as non-invasive and cost-effective as possible. For a fraction of your local hospital’s costs you’ll receive exactly the same standard of care. You can look forward to a safe return and quick, complication-free recovery with Angeles Hospital.
