sleeve, RNY gastric bypass, LAP-BAND® and Realize Band™, intragastric

Gastric Sleeve
Also called gastric sleeve resection, gastric sleeve is a newer
procedure than gastric banding or bypass. During the gastric sleeve
procedure 60 or more of the stomach is removed, leaving a tube or
sleeve-shaped stomach. Gastric sleeve is typically performed on patients
with a BMI of 33-60.

Gastric Band: LAP-BAND® and Realize Band™
Gastric Band surgery is an adjustable surgical treatment for morbid obesity. It induces weight loss by reducing the capacity of the stomach, which restricts the amount of food that can be consumed and increases the time it takes for food to be digested.

Gastric Bypass (RNY)
The Gastric Bypass RNY has long been considered by the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and the National Institutes of Health to be the gold standard of weight loss surgery, and the single most successful procedure for excess weight loss and long-term weight control. The surgery has been performed by laparoscopic method since 1997, which results in smaller incisions, less pain and scarring, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stay, and reduced risk of internal organ damage and infection when compared to the traditional open incision technique

Intragastric Balloon
The Intragastric Balloon as a treatment for obesity and morbid obesity
has been in place in the early 1980s in Europe, India, Mexico and the
United States. The balloon is placed endoscopically (via the mouth and
esophagus), then inflated with saline or water and hermetically sealed,
reducing the patient's capacity to consume food and fluid and providing
the patient with a sensation of satiety.
