Organ Transplant
In the United States 19 people die every day waiting for an organ transplant. The Angeles Health Organ Transplant program works with organ recipients of both North American and Mexican nationalities with the following donor guidelines applying:
Mexico: Mexican transplant patients are eligible for cadaveric heart, liver and kidney transplantation. To confirm nationality, patients must provide proof of Mexican citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a passport. There is generally a waiting list of 6-12 months, although time-frames cannot be guaranteed.
United States: US kidney patients on the UNOS list have the option to identify a living donor through various nonprofit altruistic living donor services available online, the most prominent of which have paired more than 100 transplant patients with altruistic donors.
To date, the organization has paired more than 100 transplant patients with altruistic donors. All kidney transplant patients whether with a living donor or waiting for cadaver organs must undergo a protocol prior to surgery.
