IVF Treatment
Infertility has several different causes. In almost 30% of cases the cause is related to the female, in 30% of the cause are related to the male; in 30% the cause is related to both and in 10% of cases the cause is not known.
After the cause of infertility has been identified, a plan can be developed for the patient to conceive a child. About 90% of infertility cases are very treatable with infertility therapies such as drugs, surgery and assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization.
In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a procedure in which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the woman's body: in vitro. IVF is a common treatment for infertility when other techniques of assisted reproductive technology have not worked. IVF treatment involves closely monitoring the patient's ovulatory process, removing eggs from her ovaries and allowing sperm to fertilize them in a laboratory.
