Why travel for medical care?

Medical travel has many benefits including more affordable health care, easier access with no waiting times, a more personalized service, access to cutting-edge medical technology, and a level of care that is equal to or better than the services available in the U.S. or Canada. In addition, many of our procedures are medically advanced and not yet readily available in some North American countries. These include the CCSVI procedure, stem cell therapies, some alternative cancer treatments, and spine surgeries such as Lumbar Dynamic Stabilization.

All Angeles Hospital patients (or Angeles Health International Clients) are assigned a case manager who will guide you every step of the way during your hospital stay. They will also be available and in frequent contact with you once you return home to make sure you are making satisfactory progress. We pride ourselves on taking good care of our patients and seek to make them feel as welcome and comfortable as possible during their stay. Many past patients have remarked on the great hospitality they experience here.

How long will I be in the hospital?

You will stay in a comfortable, private hospital room for as long as your doctor deems necessary. The length of stay depends on the type of treatment you have had. For many procedures such as CCSVI, Angeles Hospital is different because our patients stay as in-patients rather than out-patients. Additionally, when cosmetic surgery patients are discharged we often ask them to stay in a nearby hotel so that we can pay close attention to their progress and are available on short notice. Some patients also choose to stay near Angeles Hospital to have stitches taken out or for their medication to be reviewed, although this can normally be carried out at the patient’s home doctor’s office. Please discuss the length of your hospital stay with your case manager who will be happy to help explain the different treatment requirements.

How soon after surgery do I have to come home?

The length of stay is determined by you and your doctor and depends on the type of procedure you have had. For many procedures such as CCSVI, Angeles Hospital is unique in that we have our patients stay as in-patients rather than on an out-patient basis. Other procedures like cosmetic surgery are also often in-patient procedures. In addition to keeping our cosmetic surgery patients in the hospital, we also then ask them to stay in a nearby hotel so that we can pay close attention to their progress and be available on short notice.

What happens if complications arise?

All of our medical providers are fully qualified to address any medical complications. If you are thinking about having treatment at Angeles Hospital, your relationship with your board certified surgeon means if complications arise a qualified doctor will be familiar with your goals and procedures. Many of our procedures are unique in the medical tourism industry as they are usually in-patient procedures. This means our team can observe your progress and make sure your recovery is going as planned. Some other medical tourism providers will offer such treatments as outpatient procedures, but not Angeles Hospital.

For procedures such as CCSVI, we keep our patients on site, whereas many other providers would send their patients to a hotel. This makes our service offering highly effective at minimizing complications and dealing with them appropriately in the rare event that they should arise.
