About Dr. Jorge Martinez-Ulloa
Dr. Martínez-Ulloa is a frequent figure in the North American media speaking about kidney transplant surgery. His extensive training includes graduating from medical school with honors from the prestigious “La Salle” University in Mexico City, where he earned certification of high performance by the National Evaluation Center (CENEVAL) in the degree of General Medicine with both a specialty in General Surgery and Transplant Surgery. He also trained at the top university hospitals in Mexico City, as well as at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. He completed a Transplant Fellowship with the National Medical Center “La Raza”, at the Mexican Institute for Social Security.
His transplant team has performed more than 400 kidney transplant
surgeries in the Baja California region. Dr. Martinez-Ulloa opened in
Tijuana a few years ago, the kidney transplant program in the biggest
public health system in the country (IMSS), and performed the fist
cadaveric multiorgan procurement surgery, the fist cadaveric kidney
transplant, and the fist laparoscopic kidney nephrectomy at this
institution, in the history of Baja California.
Dr. Martinez-Ulloa is considered to be among the top ten kidney
transplant surgeons in North America. In October 2009, Dr.
Martinez-Ulloa was honored by Mexican President Felipe Calderon
Hinojosa, with the award for his exceptional service in the field of
transplant surgery, in the state of Baja California.
He is a university staff professor, and has been featured speaker at
numerous national forums. His speaking topics included:
