About Dr. Ismael Gonzalez

Dr. Gonzalez earned his doctoral degree at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His General Surgery residency was done at the National Medical Center “20 de Noviembre” Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).

Specialization training took place through a Transplant Fellowship at ISSSTE, and a Transplant Fellowship at Charite Hospital at the University of Berlin, Germany.

Dr. Gonzalez was part of the team that performed the first multi-organ procurement surgery and the first cadeveric kidney transplant in Baja California in 2001, as well as the first hepatic transplant in Baja California in 2008.

A staff member at Hospital Angeles Tijuana, Dr. Gonzalez is also the Chief of Transplant Surgery at Fray Junipero Serra Hospital (ISSTE), and on staff at Tijuana General Hospital.

Dr. Gonzalez is an Associate Professor at the European Donor Hospital Education Program in Baja California, and for the Post Graduate Year 1 Program Transplant Unit at the Autonomous University of Baja California.

He is a frequent presenter on the topic of Transplant Surgery at national and international medical events
